When dearest Hayley left, she also left me with a bunch of her stuff. YAY. Well boo to her leaving but yay to having a new hairdryer, sewing machine and a box full of food and booze (me and Paul were seriously like bogan kids on one of those Chrisco commercials when we got it, haha, so much fooood). I decided I’d try my hand at making a top. I had this skirt I got at an opshop at Evans Head but it was kinda long and didn’t fit that good but the material was sick! It was like an old ladies house skirt from the 80s or some shit…
See cool huh? Sorry for my shit pics, only got the Blackberry for photos these days and well, those fuckers weren’t exactly made with photography in mind.
I liked the cut of this top I had, it kinda trapezes out at the bottom. And it’s short, I have a torso about as long as a chimps so most tank tops are way too long for me. I basically just measured this shit up and attempted to draw it onto the material of the skirt. This was a cunt of a job, coupled with the fact I had no idea what the fuck I was doing and I haven’t touched any sewing shit since I was about 18, made me wanna give up like a zillion times. But I ended up with two pieces of material which VAGUELY looked like the front and back of this thing. Sewing it up was easy enough (good machine hayles!) and voila!!
Woohoo! Again horrendous photo but you get the idea. It totally worked! And I’ve totally worn it a couple times and washed it and it hasn’t broken. I know for most chicks this kinda shit is like a cake walk but I never fuckin sew, let alone make up dodgy patterns and shit. So I was very proud of myself! haha. It looks really cool with white jeans and these massive new wedges I bought from nine west. Not sure if I could be fucked doing it again to be honest, but good to know if I ever find nice material on something at an op shop I can always transform it!
THE END

I am sooo impatient on sewing macines, my patience lasts long enough to make boob tubes and tube skirts.. hahaha…
Haha yeah I’m totes Frankie-fied now. I actually enjoy the sewing part just not the making a pattern from scratch part. Maybe i should suss patterns for leotards and shit and make some cool 80s inspired numbers! Maybe I can recreate the toucan! I’m pulling a you rik. Trying to save money so just trying to stay in, chill and make shiz. Hmm what else can I make…. haha.
