It’s official.. I am totally Gaga crazy (sorry Al!!!) Behold her latest single, Telephone…
Not only is it an amazingly catchy pop song but that clip is UNREAL. Her outfits? B’s outfits? The reference to her lack of dick?
I defy anyone to say they didn’t find that entertaining!
Now excuse me cause I’ll be up in the club sipping that bub and you’re not gonna reach my telephone!
Edit.
Please also note this excellent “movie” poster artwork to accompany the clip… Loves it.

RIKKI!! NO!!! Don’t be so bloody predictable you gay man in a dutch ladies body!!! I gave this a chance, I watched it and I didn’t hate it. Don’t like the song at ALL. But for a vid it was very…. something. I’ll give it that. I didn’t get it and it certainly didn’t make me like her but it was…a ‘spectacle’. That whole ‘honey bee’ dialogue was really cringe worthy tho. I dunno, I guess I’ll never get her. It’s all so try-hard and forced. The song is ok. I’m just so over all this electro pop shit, like kesha. Can we just go back to when rnb was the biggest influence in pop, I hate this shit!!!
My only hope is that the proliferation in this shit music will make kids eventually go crazy and crave dirty raw shit and music will change like how disco music really pushed the punk scene. I find my own tastes are changing as a result of all this electro gay pop like black eyed peas and lady gaga, really been craving listening to ahem….GUITAR…music and this never happens to me! I was all about glitter and david lachapelle esque shit but now i just wanna watch skate vids and listen to thrash metal and i reckon it’s this shit! Fingers crossed the backlash begins…
EEEE! Guitar music? Alex…is that you? Hahaha!
Man, I’ve been listening to this radio station that plays stuff from when was in College (That’s Canberran for year 11 and 12 or ‘high school’ people). Every song that comes on I’m like, “YEAH! This is great!” THEN I realise that I’m one of those losers that listens to shit radio stations with hits from yesteryear….that shit was from 15 years ago. Shoot me in the face!*
*Don’t shoot me in the face
Bahahahahah I know, I know… But compare that to the lame-as-shit “Pokerface” and “Just Dance” vids and you will see she has come light years from the lightning bolt makeup and disco-ball bras… She’s obviously gotten more money and more clout at the record label, they’re no longer telling her she has to have long blonde hair and be “kinda pretty” to be a sellable artist… I do agree however that both of them should stick to singing and leave the acting alone, it was pretty panful. I guess I just love camp shit, and I love pop and I think you’ll find the more you listen to this song the more you’ll love it.. Hahah or maybe thats just me.
Not enough money to pay for the directors she borrowed all her ideas from, apparently.
The car scene is a Tarantino trademark (even though he didn’t have anything to do with the Gaga’s clip). Tarantino does car scenes in Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Dusk til Dawn, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill, Sin City and Death Proof.
The script makes it seem like they’re acting is terrible – but it’s Blacksploitation styled (very Tarantino). Check out Black Belt Jones (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CTKLxOh39Y).
And the David LaChapelle (who also didn’t have anything to do with Gaga’s clip) directed No Doubt clip for ‘It’s My Life’ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubvV498pyIM) has similar themes and style. Even the mass murder/execution story – did No Doubt’s clip get banned? Not that I can tell.
I still like the clip though. It’s more interesting than the Miley Swift Spear’s clips going around…
I hear you Cheech… But I think the obvious referencing of pop culture classics is quite deliberate (hence the use of the “Pussy Wagon” from Kill Bill), the delivery of the dialogue, like you said is deliberate too.. I just don’t think they pull it off too well, could be because they’re not actors… they also reference Thelma and Louise with their down-with-men attitudes, with Honey B killing her boyfriend (this is a continuation from the Paparazzi film clip where Gags kills her HOT bf too) and driving off into the dessert hands held aloft as in the iconic final scene of the movie… It’s all very much on purpose. (as is the constant real and fake product placement – how very Warhol) Gaga is all about the “Pop Icon” and by referencing all the majors (and obviously the ones she most respects) she is paying tribute to them and highlighting what it is she wants to become.. I think… now I need to go back to doing some actual work and stop disecting pop film clips hahaha…
I found this link which points out a few nerdy facts about the clip:
